Circle and Gems Project Bracelet

All supplies can be found at the Bead Trunk

Supply List:

Level: Novice  (Some wire work knowledge helpful)

Supplies: (for 7.5” bracelet)

3 feet of 22- gauge craft wire
6” of large circle link chain
1 toggle clasp
1 4mm fire polished glass bead
9 7-mm gem cut fire polished glass beads (other beads will work, just keep in mind NOT to fill entire circle of the chain link.)
1 medium size oval jump ring (optional)

Tools:
Chain nose pliers
Round nose pliers
Wire Cutters

Picture 1:  Cut 2.5” of craft wire.  Using the round nose pliers, place them on the wire about 1” down, giving yourself a little tail of wire.  Use the round nose pliers to bend the wire away from you at a 90-degree angle.  Leave the tool in place for step 2.
Picture 2:  With your hand, bend the short tail of wire back over the top of the round nose pliers.  This will create the beginning of a loop.

Picture 3:  Reposition the pliers so the loop is sitting over the bottom nose of the tool; this way you can bend the short tail of wire under the bottom nose of the pliers and away from you at a 90-degree angle.    This creates a complete circle.
Picture 4:  Now you are ready to wrap the short tail of wire around the stem, creating a secure wrapped loop.   Make sure the short tail of wire is sticking straight out, like a scarf in the wind.  In your non-dominant hand, hold the loop with your round nose pliers.  Pick up the chain nose pliers and grip the very tail end of wire.  With short movements, wrap the wire around the stem 2 to 3 times.  String on 1 7-mm gem cut bead.
Pictures: 5-9:  Take the round nose pliers and place it just over the bead, leaving a small space.  Using the round nose pliers, bend the wire away from you at a 90-degree angle.  Now you will be repeating steps 1-4 creating a little link similar to the one in picture 10.  If there is excess wire, use your wire cutter to cut the tail as close as you can to the bead, see picture 9.  *Keep in mind that when cutting wire it can fly at you, wear safety glasses or cut the wire under the table you are working at.
Repeat steps 1-9 until all of the gem cut beads are made into links.

Attaching links to the chain:  Use your round nose or chain nose pliers to open the figure 8 links on the chain.  Once you have one open, place the bead link in the loop and close the figure eight link.  Repeat this on the other side.

Picture: 13-15

Now it is time to attach the clasp.  Create another wrapped wire loop in a 2.5” piece of craft wire.  String on a 4-mm fire polish bead.  Create another loop on the other side of the bead, DO NOT WRAP THE WIRE ON THIS SIDE.  String on the toggle bar of your clasp on to the open loop of your wire.  Place the loop of wire flat in between the noses of the round nose pliers, have this tool in your non-dominate hand making sure the toggle bar is on the outside of the tool.  Use the chain nose pliers to wrap the tail of wire down to the 4-mm bead.  Use wire cutters to cut off any excess wire and the chain nose pliers to pinch in the nub of wire.  You can attach the loop side of toggle directly to the figure 8 link on the other end of the chain, if it does not fit, then use a medium sized oval jump ring.
